This past weekend I had the opportunity to help coordinate and decorate for the sweetest friend of mine. Her little one was having a ‘Christmas Pancakes & Pajama Party’, and oh my goodness it was the CUTEST thing ever! Having the little ones come in their PJs to play and tank up on sugar at an early pancake brunch is such a great idea. Rather than them having a sugar high two hours before bed time, they go-go-go and crash all before noon! Genius.
We decided on incorporating plaid rather than the classic Christmas reds, but of course we could not pass up those adorable reindeer cups and napkins from Meri Meri, also tossing in a few bells here and there.
Because I cannot wait another second – Y’ALL these cupcakes! I was squealing in the kitchen after decorating these guys and they were SO easy! All I did was bake a plain vanilla cake mix, adding just a tad bit of maple and vanilla flavoring to the batter, in plaid baking cups that I have used in a prior post. When cooled I topped them with cream cheese icing and using a tooth pick placed two Eggo Mini Buttermilk Pancakes that I cooked in the oven (so they would be stiffer than if I cooked them in the microwave) per cupcake. Then with the left over icing, I added yellow food coloring to make it look like butter and added a “pad” of icing to cover the toothpick on top of each pancake stack. They were absolutely perfect in every way and made the table!
‘Hot Chocolate Bars’ have been a huge trend this year and after creating a few myself, I can honestly say it is so simple to recreate. Using an assortment of goodies such as peppermints, cinnamon sticks, cookies, marshmallows, etc., place them into jars, vases, bowls, or platters you have and fancy them up by giving everything a pretty name tag. That is it! Tip: To make it totally self-serve place your hot chocolate into a coffee urn to keep it warm and everyone can pour their own!
Lastly, when thinking of take home goodies for the little ones, I knew we did not want to send them off with more sugar, so I created an interactive place-mat to let them color and they could take home their masterpiece to hang on the fridge with all of their other Christmas Crafts! Simple, but a reminder of the fun they had.
Overall this party was such a blast to plan and see come together!
