True Southern Entertaining

Ombré Blondies

Spring is just around the corner and I could not be more excited! While the days here in East Texas have been filled with rain, rain, and more rain I have been anxiously awaiting a ray of sunshine. Spending our evenings planning our vegetable and flower garden has me chomping at the bit.

These ombré blondies are sure to put a little pep in your step no matter the weather! Usually, I am not the biggest brownie fan, well unless they are piping hot and smothered in ice cream, but I think I would eat anything if it included ice cream… Anyways! I have loved all of the blondie recipes floating around I decided to give them a whirl and added an ombré finish, because why not?

The brownies alone are to die for, so if frosting is not your thing, no worries. The frosting was a last-minute decision to brighten them up and to test out my “painting” skills if you will. Which I will gladly leave to the abstract artists, because let’s face it, I way too much of a perfectionist for that! (;

Ombré Blondies

Created by Ashton on February 28, 2018

Ingredients

  • 1 c flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c butter
  • 1 c packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp. vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • In a large bowl mix together your dry ingredients and set aside.
  • Melt belt and let cool. In a mixer add your butter and melted butter, mix well. Add the egg and vanilla, mix well.
  • Add in your dry ingredients a little at a time. Mix well.
  • Spread your batter in a greased 9x9 pan.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or untill golden brown.
  • Optional Icing: Once the blondies have completely cooled, mix together in a separate bowl 1 cup butter, 2 to 3 cups powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, and 1/4 cup milk. To create an ombre effect, separate frosting into several bowls and create different colors. Dollop blondies with the different colors and then with an offset spatula begin to spread the frosting. Be sure to clean off the spatula with each swipe.

About Sister Sage Co.

My name is Ashton Clark and welcome to my entertaining blog Sister Sage Co! I am so happy that you have stopped by and I hope you have found some inspiration for your next event.
After moving back to my small East Texas hometown, starting a job in the corporate world and marrying my High School sweetheart all within a 6 month span, I began looking for a creative outlet. I love hosting and planning events, so much that I even received a Professional Event Management Certification at Texas A&M, so *poof* Sister Sage Co was born. Read More…
